Overview

Ponds, Water Features, and Lagoons can become choked with vegetation, plagued by murky water and unsightly sludge build-up. BPD-100 can be applied year round but most water issues start in the early spring and last through the fall. Our earth friendly ingredients change the water appearance to a natural blue that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also helps by filtering the red/orange and blue/violet spectrum from the sunlight which is most often associated with algae and other aquatic plant growth.

Our BPD-100 Blue Pond Colorant formulation is used to treat fish ponds and water gardens, lagoons, and water features. The colorant formula contains food grade equivalent ingredients. It will not harm or stain birds, fish, plants, pets, or wildlife when applied at the recommended rate. It is non-toxic and is compatible with most aquatic herbicides and algaecides. It can be mixed quickly and evenly throughout the pond with the use of a fountain spray, aerator or similar mechanical mixing device. Water flow through and sunlight exposure will determine how long the blue dye lasts in your pond or water feature.

For best results, BPD-100 should be used in conjunction with our 1502 series algae, duckweed, and water clarity formulation(s), or our 300 Series Products which will add beneficial bacteria to reduce overall nutrient levels and to ensure your pond or lake remains clean and clear throughout the seasons. Applications should start in the early spring.

General Dosing Instructions

For Application To Ponds, Lakes And Ornamental Bodies Of Water.

Apply either directly from container along shoreline or pour from a slow-moving boat. Product will disperse uniformly within hours by natural water movement. Product can also be applied by a hand-held pressure sprayer. Use caution in windy conditions. For best results, apply early in the spring and throughout the season as color intensity indicates.

Dosage Rate:

  • Apply one quart (0.95 L) per acre-foot.

Note: Recommendations are based on acre-feet of water. One acre-foot is the quantity of water that would cover one surface acre to a depth of one foot.

One acre-foot of water is approximately 325,800 gallons.

In bodies of water over four feet deep: Determine the initial number of quarts of pond dye to apply by multiplying the surface acres of the body of water by 4. Once dye has been applied and dispersed, color intensity can be increased by adding pond dye.

In bodies of water less than four feet deep: Determine the initial number of quarts of pond dye to apply by multiplying the surface acres of the body of water by the average depth. Once dye has been applied and dispersed, color intensity can be increased by adding additional product.
