Overview

Aeration is when blowers produce oxygen into the wastewater. Aerobic or facultative bacteria consume solid food sources and reduce them. This process removes biological oxygen demand (BOD) and total suspended solids (TSS) from wastewater.

Benefits of Aeroclear™ Aeration Systems

There are many benefits of our AeroClear™ Aeration Systems including reduced energy costs, significantly higher oxygen transfer rates per hour, higher dissolved oxygen (DO) levels, and excellent performance.

The purpose of our AeroClear™ system is to offer effective and efficient transfer of 100% outside/room air for positive distribution into a wastewater tank to increase the Dissolved Oxygen (DO) content in the wastewater. This improves not only the efficiency, but the digestion rate of solids as well.

This efficient and durable AeroClear™ aeration system has proven success with many applications including grease traps aeration, septic system aeration and remediation, pond and lagoon aeration, aquaculture systems and any other system than benefits from an increased oxygen levels in the wastewater.

Aeration System Size Chart:

AeroClear Unit Holding Tank Volume
Size 500 Series System 500 to 1000 Gallons
Size 1000 Series System 1250 to 2000 Gallons
Size 2000 Series System 2250 to 3000 Gallons

Bacteria Overview:

The three main types of bacteria in on-site (septic) process waste:

  • Aerobic (require oxygen)
  • Obligate Anaerobic (does not require oxygen)
  • Facultative (withstands aerobic and anaerobic conditions)

Aerobic bacteria are more aggressive and efficient at waste digestion than anaerobic bacteria.

Facultative bacteria require oxygen but can obtain it from non-aerated water by getting the oxygen molecules from other sources. This produces the "rotten egg odor," (hydrogen sulfide). Aerating eliminates these hydrogen sulfide odors. An effective aeration process for your on-site treatment system reverses failing leach field conditions and reduces loading in the soil treatment area. This maintenance increases the life of your on-site waste treatment system.
